The Leadership for the Common Good series represents a partnership between Harvard Business Press and the Center for Public Leadership at Harvard Kennedy School. Books in the series aim to provoke conversations about the role of leaders in business, government, and society; to enrich leadership theory and enhance leadership practice; and to set the agenda for defining effective leadership in the future.

Course materials also include the SDI, which empowers leaders to manage conflict and make effective choices in their relationships. The SDI is a valid and reliable tool that is easy to understand, remember and apply.

Michael Maccoby, a globally recognized expert on leadership, has written or co-authored 13 books and consulted with leaders in over 30 countries and directed innovative projects to transform work. He has taught at Harvard, Oxford, the University of Chicago, Sciences Po, the UC Santa Cruz, and the Washington School of Psychiatry. His BA and Ph.D. are from Harvard, and he is a graduate of the Mexican Psychoanalytic Institute.
